Analytical Toxicology

Analytical toxicology assists in the diagnosis, management, prognosis, and prevention of poisoning that occurs due to exposure of chemical substances. In addition to this, analytical toxicology laboratories may be involved in a range of other activities such as the assessment of exposure following chemical incidents, therapeutic drug monitoring, forensic analyses, and monitoring for drugs of abuse. They are involved in research. They help in the determination of the pharmacokinetic and toxicokinetic properties of substances and their efficacy for the treatment of new regimens.
