Track 03: Toxicology

Toxicology is the scientific study of lethal effects that occur in living organisms due to chemical substances. It involves detecting and reporting symptoms, mechanisms and treatments of toxic substances, in particular relation to the poisoning of humans. Dioscorides, was first to classify plants according to their toxic and therapeutic effect. Mathieu Orfila is considered the modern father of toxicology, To work as a toxicologist one should obtain a degree in toxicology or a related degree like biology, chemistry, pharmacology or biochemistry

Track 04:  Pollution and its Controlling Measures

Pollution control or prevention is a major global concern in the present scenario. The harmful effects of pollution on a person’s health and on the environment, are a major cause of this concern. Environmental pollution comes in diverse forms, such as air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, etc. Pollution control is the process of reduction or elimination of the release of pollutants or contaminants that are usually human-made and are released into the environment. This is regulated by various environmental agencies that establish limits for the discharge of pollutants into the air, water, and land. A wide range of devices and systems have been developed to control air, water, and solid wastes.

Track 05: Occupational Health and Safety

Occupational health and safety is a multidisciplinary field concerned with the safety, health, and welfare of people at work. Occupational safety and health is generally defined as the science of the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of hazards arising in or from the workplace that could impair the health and well-being of workers, considering the possible impact on the surrounding communities and the general environment. The purpose of the OHS regulation is to promote occupational health and safety and to protect workers and other persons present at workplaces from work-related risks to their health, safety, and well-being and in compliance with the requirements provides the basis on which workers and employers, in cooperation, can solve workplace health and safety problems. The requirements are not an end in them, but are a foundation upon which to build an effective health and safety program.

Track 08: Bio Medical Science

Biomedical sciences are a set of applied sciences applying either by natural science or formal science or both, to knowledge, interventions, or technology that are of use in healthcare or public health. Enhancements in healthcare continue to be determined by dramatic advances in the basic biosciences. Biomedical science is poised to make valuable contributions to the fields of both biology and medicine-and many moves on to the findings in the field of biology that have important effects in the medical world.

Biotechnology is the technical application of the living organisms, systems and their biological processes in order to alter or modify their products for a specific use. Based on the equipment used and the method of application biotechnology relates with the fields like bioengineering, biomedical engineering, bio manufacturing, molecular engineering, etc. Earlier it was farmers, who applied the field of biotechnology practically in agriculture, food production, and medicine. Later it got sophisticated with good scope and advanced applications which included a wide range of new and diverse sciences such as genomics, recombinant gene techniques, applied immunology, and development of pharmaceutical therapies and diagnostic tests

Track 10: Methods of Toxicity Testing

There are several methods for toxicity testing. The method of toxicity testing is also known as safety assessment that is conducted to determine the degree to which a substance can cause harmful effects to a living or non-living being. It is conducted by researchers using standard test procedures to comply with governing regulations, example for medicines and pesticides. There are various tests for the determination of toxicology. These tests are carried out by pharmaceutical industries biotechnology companies and by contract research organizations. The toxicity of substances can be observed by studying the accidental exposures to a substance or by in vitro studies using cells/ cell lines or by in vivo exposure on experimental animals. Each year there are around a million of primates and non–primates used for toxicology tests in Europe. Animal testing is currently banned for cosmetic purposes across the European Union.

Importance & Scope:

Environmental toxicology is a multidisciplinary field that is focusing on the study of the harmful effects. It includes the adverse effects of various chemical, biological, and physical agents on living organisms in the ecosystems, including humans. Environmental toxicology occupies an ideal position among the study of toxicology, environmental health, and public policy. The major contribution of environmental toxicology has been providing tools and scientific evidence to policy-makers.  It also been providing the necessary tools to the public in preventing substantially greater environmental degradation, including adverse human health impacts.

Why Europe?

In Europe, environmental toxicology receives increasing attention and shows significant growth in contrast to the fast-economic growth and industrial development. With the increase in the number of environmental problems, there is a need for immediate solution, and environmental toxicology is expected to play a key role as a support tool for environmental risk assessment. As society changes due to modern technology and to the challenge of sustainable development in the face of increased human population especially in the Europe region, the role of toxicology in enlightened public health and public policy will become even more important.

The scientific program of Environmental Toxicology conference encompasses plenary sessions, symposia, workshops, panel discussions, informational sessions, regional sessions, and poster sessions which covers all the novel and emerging trends in Environmental Toxicology.  The conference attendance enhances opportunities for educational development and to exchange the knowledge in toxicology and its applications.
